The Portsmouth Rotary Club was chartered in 1923, when 25 men met at the Rockingham Hotel, signed the necessary paper work to establish a “new” club, and became its charter members. On March 28, 1923, Rotary International designated the Portsmouth Club as #1391, granted it membership and bestowed upon it all rights and privileges.

Today’s Rotarians, both men and women are business and civic leaders in all walks of life that share one common goal: Service Above Self.  Portsmouth Rotarians have led fundraisers throughout the years to support worthwhile charities that make a positive difference in people’s lives not only in New Hampshire but around the world. Proudly, this club has generated millions of dollars that have been selflessly donated for the greater good.

Local non-profits receive: basic needs (food, clothing, shelter); a wide variety of community building grants; area students receive scholarships; and valuable “hands on” projects.  Around the world, Rotary works to eradicate polio and to promote literacy, clean water, maternal and child health and peace through conflict resolution.

Today we the Portsmouth Rotary Club are vibrant organization of volunteers, consisting of close to 200 members and remain the largest club in District #7780.
