What the heck happened to Spring? Got a little 70 degree tease then ZAP, back into the deep freeze. Alright with me though. The sap from the maple trees is running at a good clip this time of year and the kids are busy lugging the sap to the burner. Here is a quiz: how many gallons of sap does it take to make 1 gallon of syrup? Free “get out of fine” card if you can guess the correct amount.

Our “guest” speaker today was our own President-Elect Tony Delyani who just returned from Rotary School with all kinds of knowledge of how to make our club the best it can be! Tony talked about his attendance at PETS (Presidents Elect Training Seminar) for District 7780 and 7 other districts on March 11 and 12 in Framingham. At PETS, the 2011-2012 Rotary International theme of International President Kalyan Banerjee of India, "Reach Within to Embrace Humanity", was unveiled. Stay tuned for more details on this theme. (hey, we’re not Wiki Leaks here at the Rotary Log, you know!).

Tony also spoke about the upcoming District Assembly, scheduled for the morning of Saturday, April 9 at the Westbrook Middle School. Tony finished by listing the officers and directors of our club for 2011-2012.  They are: Me as your President (ok, that’s not true). How about this:

President-elect: Nancy Notis

VP: Dave Underhill

Treasurer: Joe Bove

Asst. Treasurer: Ryan Bishop

Secretary: Lisa Mills

Asst. Secretary: Darlene McAllister

Sergeant at Arms: [vacant]

Assistant Sergeant at Arms: Cathy Edison

Here is a brain teaser that you’ll have to wait for the next eBulletin to find the answer: Where did the name “piggy bank” come from? Let’s see how many of our bankers can get this one right!
