Portsmouth Rotary Club
Weekly Log for December 2, 2010 Written by Deb Grabowski
There was a full house for this week’s meeting. Five new members were introduced and each provided a brief summary of their background and what has drawn them to our Rotary Club. The new members are:
Waheed Mansur, South Asia Enterprise
David Splaine, Ellis Insurance
Magdalena Soutcheva, Coastal Dental Associates
Nancy Philbrick, Relyco
Priscilla MacInnis, Tapley Agency
Dan Hoefle presented Bill Shuler, retired CEO of Portsmouth Hospital, as a Paul Harris Fellow. Under Bill’s leadership PRH expanded from a small community hospital to the regional, state-of-the-art facility that currently serves the Seacoast.
Fine master, Neal Ouelette, was making up for lost time and fined many individuals, some more than once!
Our speaker was Paul Lindsey, an ex-Marine who served in Vietnam and a retired FBI agent assigned to the Detroit office. Paul spoke about his years as a Detroit homicide detective and the Highland Park murder case that was the impetus behind his first book, "Witness to the Truth", published in 1992. Paul retired from the FBI in 1993, lives in Rye, NH and has had a successful career as a writer. Paul’s newest book, "The Bricklayer", is written under the pseudonym Noah Boyd.
Paul’s light presentation style and honest dialogue captured everyone’s attention and left us wanting to hear more. I’m guessing many of us will be running out to purchase one of his books.
