The “changing of the guard” ceremony on June 26 was, in more ways than one, a “Royal” event. With a Queen’s robe and a sparkling tiara, our fearless leader for the past year bid farewell to the throne in a humorous but peaceful transition of power. No riots in this change in leadership, but a lot of laughs. The Rotations honored now former President Nancy with jokes and songs before a packed house.

Here is a tally of President Nancy’s year: Parade of politicians; Club Grand Marshall of the Christmas (ooops, sorry, “Holiday”) parade; $32,000 golf tournament; 90th Birthday (the Club’s, not Walter’s); $2 million in assets on the way to the club goal of $3M; 20th annual Thunder Chicken race; 40th annual Christmas Tree sales; very difficult club personal losses which Nancy led us through with grace and compassion. This is only a brief list. It is amazing to your Editor that any person can work full time and be President of our very active club. My baseball hat is off to you, President Nancy!

“It’s hard to believe that my president year is now complete,” Notis said. “What a year it’s been.”
“We’re an amazing club,” she said. “We are one amazing group of people. We should be proud to recognize that our contributions really do make a difference.”

As she said to the Herald: “at the end of the day it isn’t just about the financial contributions the club makes. It’s not about money, it’s about service above self.” Thank you, Nancy!

OK, President Dave (or “Emperor” as he prefers to be addressed in person), pressure is on…
