What a wonderful Flagg Day (your Editor MUST be baiting the Finemaster)! Started the meeting with Grand Old Flag and while the rendition started off strong, it fizzeled a bit at the end. Here are the lyrics. Go practice in the shower:

You're a Grand Old Flag

by George M. Cohan

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

Thanks to John Pappas and his Committee, Portsmouth Rotary Announces Vocational Award Winners! Today, the Portsmouth Rotary announced the winners of the club’s 19th annual vocational awards.

Featured are this year’s winners:  Seacoast Health Facility manager Eligio Santana,  Clipper Harbour home care giver Marian Durgin, volunteer Ralph Cresta of National Wrecker  and Portsmouth High School teacher Bryan Rogers .  Rotarian sponsors Walter Liff, Deb Grabowski, Chief David Fernald, and Nancy Clayburg made their touching and heartfelt presentations and it is always nice to know that there are selfless people out there will to help others just for the good of it.

These awards are given annually to recognize individuals who practice high ethical standards in the workplace and exhibit vocational excellence. The awards are presented to local residents in four categories; public sector, education, health & human service and general. Four worthy candidates are selected from a pool of candidates that are nominated by members of the club. Each award winner is given $500 to award to a charity of their choice.

No one won the raffle pot...again...and next week it should be about $1200!
