Your directors took a number of actions today, to build our Club and serve our community.   Here is a summary.

Funding: we have donated $1,000 to the Portsmouth High School Futures program, which was created 27 years ago by the late Joe Sawtelle.  The program currently has 37 students at PHS, and Futures supports them by tracking them from middle school into college and helping with costs for books and laptops.  Rotarian Bill Mortimer is actively engaged with the Futures program.

We also are donating $1,000 to the One Sky Challenger’s Cup Regatta, which each year is conducted in September to promote and engage people with disabilities in boating and related sports activities.   Rotarian Stan Cross heads up our club’s engagement in that event.

We allocated $1,500 basic-needs dollars to the Portsmouth Catholic SHARE fund, and $1,000 to Common Table, both offer food and other basic support to community members of all faiths.

We are sending $350 to support the district Interact committee’s UN day trip in November, and we donated $250 to the Guatemala Literacy Project in honor of our District Governor Carolyn Johnson.

We are proud to announce that we have approved scholarships for local students, which will be presented here at our Club meeting on May 22.  The total amount of these scholarships is $35,000…..thanks to your hard work throughout this Rotary year, and the endowment support created by those who have come before us.

The board has formally approved the comprehensive bylaws amendment, and is sending it to the club for a ratification vote on May 22.   You can find a copy of this amendment by logging in to the club documents folder of the website: please read it and prepare for a vote at our weekly lunch meeting on that date.
