The board of directors last week named Deb Grabowski our new club secretary, replacing Lisa Mills who did the job with exceptional grace and dedication but had to step down because of a job change that has her commuting to Manchester each day.  Deb is now being ably assisted by Rotarian Dave Holden, whse poetic skills will soon be matched by his acumen for posting makeups and answering arcane questions about the attendance rules.   Thanks to both of them for stepping up and offering their time in these challenging roles.

We're updating our records to make sure all Rotarians who are qualified to be attendance-exempt are properly recorded.  A note went out to club members last weekend, asking a few simple questions -- in case you missed it, here it is again:

Greetings, fellow Portsmouth Rotarians,

With recent software updates, the change in our club secretary and continued focus on attendance, I'm helping Deb and the board by reviewing our Club records to be sure that everyone who is attendance-exempt is properly recorded.  I believe we have it all right, but I'm asking each club member to help with that review.

Do you believe you are attendance-exempt?   (If no, you are done, do not reply to this email please.  If you're not sure, read the definition at the bottom of this email).

IF THE ANSWER IS YES:

Did you already get an email from me this morning telling you we have you listed as attendance-exempt (If yes, and it is correct, you are also done...thank you for your time and no reply is necessary).

IF THE ANSWER IS NO, or if any of this is unsure or might be inaccurate, please help us to get it right:

Please send me a note indicating that you believe you should be listed as attendance-exempt and we'll work to update our records. dave@underhilladvisors.com    or just reply to this message.  Or call me at 603-706-3143.

As a reminder, here's what the standard Rotary Club constitution defines as an attendance-exempt member:

Article 9 Attendance
Section 3 —
Excused Absences. A member's absence shall be excused if (b) the age of the member is 65 and above and the aggregate of the member's years of age and years of membership in one or more clubs is 85 years or more and the member has notified the club secretary in writing of the member's desire to be excused from attendance and the board has approved.
