The new attendance system goes on-line for our February 23 meeting.   Here's what you need to know.

Our new attendance scanner system launches Thursday February 23 (take that badge off the bureau and bring it to the meeting please?)

The testing is done, the system is working and most club members will find a little bar-code on the back of their badge, thanks to the hard work of the special elves at the end of our last meeting.

This coming Thursday, you'll see that attendance is as easy as 1-2-3:

1--Pay for your meal.

2--Grab your badge (it should be in the same slot as always unless it's on your dresser, in your glove compartment, briefcase, other coat or the laundry).

3 -- Deb will scan your badge and count you in.

We'll continue using the yellow cards for a couple of weeks as a backup, but we're now online with electronic attendance recording and reporting.  A single upload from the scanner to the website counts your attendance, and automatically updates Rotary's records.

This week's FAQ's:

My badge wasn't in the box at the end of the meeting last week so it didn't get a barcode, what do I do?  See Dave, we have your barcode ready to attach to your badge.

I forgot/lost/the dog ate/ my badge, how does my attendance get counted?  See Deb, she'll scan your code directly from the master notebook.

What if I tape the bar-code from a box of cereal to the back of my badge?  You'll be eating Raisin Bran while the rest of us get tenderloin.

Where's my badge?  It was here last week and now it's gone!  In the course of coding we pulled a lot of badges out of the box which belonged to former members.  It's entirely possible we made mistakes, so we held on to those badges and they're in the closet.  If we inadvertently pulled your badge, let us know and we'll find it, apologize and probably have to pay a fine too.

What about honorary and exempt members?  Honorary members are always welcome to our club meetings, but they don't have bar-codes on their badges because there's no attendance requirement for honorary members.  Exempt members' badges do have bar-codes.  Although exempt members do not have to meet the 50%/30% attendance rule, when they come to lunch they increase our participation rate, because the RI attendance rules allow them to be counted.
