You received your Portsmouth Rotary dues invoice in the mail recently.   Here's what you need to know about where that money goes, and how we're working to keep the cost of the club low for all concerned.

First: good news!  The board and finance committee have kept tight cost controls for yet another year.   Thanks in large part to the $1/weekly revenue improvement (and the many other improvements) that resulted from our move to the Portsmouth Country Club, we have kept annual net club dues at $125.  Of this amount, $96 goes directly to Rotary International and to District 7780, and the remainder supports our club operating budget.  But please note: to keep your dues at $125, you must pay them before July 31.

Did you know?  Our club must "front" the money for many members when dues aren't paid on time.  Last fiscal year, our finance committee was still making collection calls after New Years, more than six months after the invoices went out.   The $96-per-member had long since been remitted.  For this reason, the board agreed that in the new year your dues will be invoiced at $150, with a $25 discount allowed if you have paid your dues prior to July 31.   Thus, there is no net dues increase, but those who fail to pay will be assessed the additional $25.  Please do your part, save yourself money, and help us collect all dues by July 31.

Optional items: Your invoice shows an "optional" item, EREY; you will also have the choice of purchasing and/or renewing your optional website ad.  To be clear, your invoice was printed with $0 owed in these two areas.  You may participate in Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY) by writing in a contribution to the foundation of $100 (suggested) or any other amount.  EREY contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  Also, if you have a web ad and wish to renew it, please know we're grateful and the cost remains $150.   The web ad revenue now accounts for over 10% of the club's operating budget.  Almost all web ads will expire on July 31 if not renewed by that date.  Web ad invoices will go out separately.

Credit cards: We're pleased to report you may pay now this invoice by credit card.   Bring your card to a club meeting and we'll swipe your payment electronically.  If you prefer, you may write your credit card info on your invoice and return it to the treasurer: be sure to include the card holder's name, the complete card number, and the expiration date.

Thank you for your support of our club and your loyal membership in Portsmouth Rotary

President-elect Nancy Notis, Portsmouth Rotary board of directors and the finance committee.
