Dozens of hardy golfers braved drizzle and mulligans to raise tens of thousands of dollars for a fund that will benefit food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and housing in the Greater Portsmouth Area. The event was hosted at the Pease Golf Course.

The annual tournament, a long tradition of Portsmouth Rotary, featured a shotgun start in a four-person scramble format, with Rotary members and guests from many clubs around the Seacoast.

Portsmouth Rotary's Annual Charity Golf Tournament Launches New Endowment for Food, Shelter and Housing

The tournament, co-chaired by Rotarians John Pratt and David Splaine, was dedicated to the memory of Paul Beswick, long-time supporter of the event, along with his firm, Beswick Engineering. Mark Lorusso spoke to the assembled golfers just before the launch of the event, remembering Paul and his dedication to the community and the spirit of fun the tournament embodies.

Funds raised at this tournament are being placed in a special endowment that will generate annual income to be distributed by Portsmouth Rotary for the specific food and sheltering objectives that have been established. This money will be distributed by the Charitable Division of Portsmouth Rotary to eligible non-profits in the area.

The final amount of this fundraiser will be posted here in the near future. The directors hope to exceed a $150,000 endowment goal in the first five years of this funds existence.
